تری انجمن میں ظالم عجب اہتمام دیکھا
کہیں زندگی کی بارش کہیں قتل عام دیکھا
In your realm O cruel one, how strange prevails the scene
Life giving showers are often seen with massacres between
میری عرض شوق پڑھ لیں یہ کہاں انہیں گوارا
وہیں چاک کر دیا خط جہاں میرا نام دیکھا
Expressions of my love for her, she cares not to peruse
The moment that she sees my name, tears it to smithereen
بڑی منتوں سے آ کر وہ مجھے منا رہے ہیں
میں بچا رہا ہوں دامن مرا انتقام دیکھا
Pleading she does come to me, attempting to placate
I turn my back to her behold, my vengeance needs be seen
اے شکیلؔ روح پرور تری بے خودی کے نغمے
مگر آج تک نہ ہم نے ترے لب پہ جام دیکھا
Shakeel your songs of sadness are so soulfully sublime
Yet through your lips a drop of wine never has there been
