तिरी अंजुमन में ज़ालिम अजब एहतिमाम देखा
कहीं ज़िंदगी की बारिश कहीं क़त्ल-ए-आम देखा
In your realm O cruel one, how strange prevails the scene
Life giving showers are often seen with massacres between
मेरी अर्ज़-ए-शौक़ पढ़ लें ये कहाँ उन्हें गवारा
वहीं चाक कर दिया ख़त जहाँ मेरा नाम देखा
Expressions of my love for her, she cares not to peruse
The moment that she sees my name, tears it to smithereen
बड़ी मिन्नतों से आ कर वो मुझे मना रहे हैं
मैं बचा रहा हूँ दामन मिरा इंतिक़ाम देखा
Pleading she does come to me, attempting to placate
I turn my back to her behold, my vengeance needs be seen
ऐ 'शकील' रूह-परवर तिरी बे-ख़ुदी के नग़्मे
मगर आज तक न हम ने तिरे लब पे जाम देखा
Shakeel your songs of sadness are so soulfully sublime
Yet through your lips a drop of wine never has there been
