This couplet alludes to Ghalib's difficult and convoluted poetry to which many of his contemporaries objected, as Aish Dehlavi even satirized Mirza Ghalib by reciting these poems in buzzing gatherings.
agar apnā kahā tum aap hī samjhe to kyā samjhe
mazā kahne kā jab hai ik kahe aur dūsrā samjhe
kalām-e-mīr samjhe aur zabān-e-mīrzā samjhe
magar un kā kahā ye aap samjheñ yā ḳhudā samjhe
agar apna kaha tum aap hi samjhe to kya samjhe
maza kahne ka jab hai ek kahe aur dusra samjhe
