तुम्हारी अंजुमन से उठ के दीवाने कहाँ जाते
तुम्हारी अंजुमन से उठ के दीवाने कहाँ जाते
जो वाबस्ता हुए तुम से वो अफ़्साने कहाँ जाते
departing from your company, where could your lovers go?
what would happen to those legends that around you grow?
निकल कर दैर-ओ-काबा से अगर मिलता न मय-ख़ाना
तो ठुकराए हुए इंसाँ ख़ुदा जाने कहाँ जाते
if on leaving temple,mosque no tavern were be found
what refuge would outcasts find? this only God would know
तुम्हारी बे-रुख़ी ने लाज रख ली बादा-ख़ाने की
तुम आँखों से पिला देते तो पैमाने कहाँ जाते
your indifference has managed to preserve the tavern's name
had we feasted from your eyes, what then would wine bestow?
चलो अच्छा हुआ काम आ गई दीवानगी अपनी
वगर्ना हम ज़माने भर को समझाने कहाँ जाते
twas a good thing that my madness was to some avail
else, for my state, what other reason could the world I show?
'क़तील' अपना मुक़द्दर ग़म से बेगाना अगर होता
तो फिर अपने पराए हम से पहचाने कहाँ जाते
