पेश जो आया सर-ए-साहिल शब बतलाया
पेश जो आया सर-ए-साहिल-ए-शब बतलाया
मौज-ए-ग़म को भी मगर मौज-ए-तरब बतलाया
है बताने की कोई चीज़ भला नाम-ओ-नसब
हम ने पूछा न कभी नाम-ओ-नसब बतलाया
रंग महफ़िल का अजब हो गया जिस दम उस ने
ख़ामुशी को भी मिरी हुस्न-ए-तलब बतलाया
दिल को दुनिया से सरोकार कभी था ही नहीं
आँख ने भी मगर इस रुख़ को अजब बतलाया
ये उदासी का सबब पूछने वाले 'अजमल'
क्या करेंगे जो उदासी का सबब बतलाया
