yahāñ to qāfile bhar ko akelā chhoḌ dete haiñ
sabhī chalte hoñ jis par ham vo rasta chhoḌ dete haiñ
qalam meñ zor jitnā hai judā.ī kī badaulat hai
milan ke ba.ad likhne vaale likhnā chhoḌ dete haiñ
kabhī sairāb kar jaatā hai ham ko abr kā manzar
kabhī sāvan baras kar bhī piyāsā chhoḌ dete haiñ
zamīñ ke mas.aloñ kā hal agar yuuñ hī nikaltā hai
to lo jī aaj se ham tum se milnā chhoḌ dete haiñ
mohazzab dost āḳhir ham se barham kyuuñ nahīñ hoñge
sag-e-iz.hār ko ham bhī to khullā chhoḌ dete haiñ
jo zinda ho use to maar dete haiñ jahāñ vaale
jo marnā chāhtā ho us ko zinda chhoḌ dete haiñ
mukammal ḳhud to ho jaate haiñ sab kirdār āḳhir meñ
magar kam-baḳht qaarī ko adhūrā chhoḌ dete haiñ
vo nañg-e-ādmi.yat hī sahī par ye batā ai dil
purāne dostoñ ko is tarah kyā chhoḌ dete haiñ
ye duniyā-dārī aur irfān kā daavā 'shujā-ḳhāvar'
miyāñ irfān ho jaa.e to duniyā chhoḌ dete haiñ
yahan to qafile bhar ko akela chhoD dete hain
sabhi chalte hon jis par hum wo rasta chhoD dete hain

kabhi sairab kar jata hai hum ko abr ka manzar

zamin ke masalon ka hal agar yun hi nikalta hai
to lo ji aaj se hum tum se milna chhoD dete hain
mohazzab dost aaKHir hum se barham kyun nahin honge
sag-e-izhaar ko hum bhi to khulla chhoD dete hain
jo zinda ho use to mar dete hain jahan wale
jo marna chahta ho us ko zinda chhoD dete hain
mukammal KHud to ho jate hain sab kirdar aaKHir mein
magar kam-baKHt qari ko adhura chhoD dete hain
wo nang-e-admiyat hi sahi par ye bata ai dil
purane doston ko is tarah kya chhoD dete hain
ye duniya-dari aur irfan ka dawa 'shuja-KHawar'
miyan irfan ho jae to duniya chhoD dete hain
